Itinerary

Itinerary

Once everybody has jumped on board and had a little briefing about how we're going to spend the day, we will be ready to set off to the west towards Capri Island.

The route will take us along Amalfi Coast and Capri's finest beaches as well as close to natural rock arches and into sea caves, giving us the opportunity to admire the old watch towers that dot the entire length of this coast.

We will pause at beaches reachable only by sea and have time to go snorkeling or swimming in crystal-clear waters and into grottoes.

The first two hours of the tour will consist in a shorter version of the Amalfi Coast Highlights half-day excursion, navigating so all the way to Praiano and touching its very best attractions.

Not too far from the starting point, right after leaving the center of Amalfi, we will get close to the Saint Andrew Grotto, a huge natural sea cave full of stalactites named after the patron saint of Amalfi (Andrea).

Then, once passed Duoglio and Santa Croce beaches, we will stop by the "Arc of Lovers", a natural rock arch created millions of years ago by the erosion of the sea whose shape recalls two elephants in the act of kissing. Up to not too long ago young couples used to get married on the top of it.

A little later we will cruise in front of the ancient fishermen village of Conca dei Marini, passing near the villa of Sophia Loren and seeing the historic hotel “Il Saraceno” located on La Vite Beach.

From here we will also have a stunning view of the Santa Rosa Monastery, a former convent now converted into a luxury hotel, once home of the Dominican nuns.

It's right in the kitchens of this monastery that the delicious "Sfogliatella Santa Rosa" was born, a shell-shaped pastry filled with ricotta cheese-based cream and little dried fruit pieces, typical of the local culinary tradition (don't forget to taste it before leaving!).

Once past the seaside of Conca dei Marini we will enter its western basin, where we will have a beautiful view of Furore and Praiano villages and the islands of Li Galli and Capri, together with the well-known Faraglioni Rocks.

Further inside this basin we will find the little Runghetiello Grotto and its tiny beach, where we will anchor for a break and to go swimming or snorkeling. This picturesque natural sea cave is named after a local fish and it's brightly frescoed in red and green by the minerals on its walls, making it a great spot for a dip.

We will reach then the famous Furore Fjord, the only natural fjord we have in Italy and location of the international diving competition "MarMeeting": every year in July, professional divers from around the world compete by jumping from the top of the bridge which is 28 meters high.

Navigating little farther onward to the village of Praiano we will be able to have a close look of a bigger sea cave, the Africana Grotto, where the water has a distinctive blue color thanks to the unique refraction of light.

From here we will set sail for Capri, where we will disembark and have about three hours for a visit on foot and to have lunch (not included). The route to the island will give us a breathtaking view of Positano and the Sorrento Peninsula.

Once back on board we will start the visit of Capri by the sea, cruising its South-East side, where all the main attractions are located.

The first sight will be Villa Jovis, the most magnificent of all roman Emperor Tiberius' island residences, followed by the Rock Window To The Sky, a large cavity in the mountains created over the span of millions of years by a special wind current.

A little later we will arrive at the Faraglioni Rocks, three rocky columns also known as the guardians of the island, formed over time through a coastal geomorphological process. Here we will be able to pass through one of these rocks via a rock tunnel formed on the inside.

We will then visit a complex of many interconnecting sea caves, including the White Grotto (Grotta Bianca) and the Green Grotto (Grotta Verde), where the water is crystal-clear and so perfect for another swimming or snorkeling session before to head back to Amalfi.

The return trip will give us the chance to conclude our trip with a magnificent view of the sunset as a backdrop to one of the world's most beautiful islands.
